Storyboard Text

  • Revolution for the Worse
  • Iranians were upset at the Shah for various reasons. There was a lack of economic mobility in Iran because of his hands off approach. The Shah was seen as a western puppet. He was corrupt in doing whatever western nations wanted him to do.
  • Down with the Shah!
  • The Shah is terrible!
  • Islam should govern Iran!
  • I don't really understand this
  • The Shah was kicked out of the country following months of protest and civil disobedience. The Islamic republic was voted into power with a clearly fake 99.9 percent of votes in favor of it.
  • I don't like wearing all of this.
  • THE SHAH IS OVERTHROWN!
  • That's just the new rule.
  • The Iranian revolution took place from 1978-1979 which involved demonstrations and speaking up against the Shah (Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi) and his views. When the revolution ended and the Shah was forced out of the country, Iran became worse than it was. People were suppressed, arrested, and murdered. Not only this took place, but a war between Iran and Iraq started and lasted for eight years following the revolution.
  • The new government implemented laws that strictly forbid any western things. You also couldn't marry or have relationships outside of your social class.
  • Also I don't understand why we have to wear all of this.
  • Mom, why don't you wear lipstick anymore
  • We just have to follow the rules.
  • I chose to research the Iranian Revolution, because it was one of the more recent revolutions that took place in the world. It is always interesting to see how the recent revolution impacted how Iranians live their lives today, and what led to this.
  • Iran went to war with Iraq and forced young boys to go to war.
  •
  • Fleeing the country was the only option for people who didn't agree with the new government.
  • We need to leave our children will die if we stay here.
  •
  • Why don't I see your girlfriend anymore, she's nice.
  • I can't see her anymore.
  •
  • I know, I hate these rules.
  • You know we can't be seen together.
  • I can't fight in a war...

  • I agree, we need to leave as soon as we can.
