  • Hi,my name is Alfred Wegener proposed the idea of continental drift and Pangea the super continent.
  • A strike slip is when two forces cause rock to break and move horizontally. Transform boundary cause tension, faulting, and shearing
  • Subduction is when the oceanic plate slides into the asthenosphere. The oceanic plate is made of basalt and is more dense than the continental plate. The continental plate is made of granite and is less dense. Density determines which plate goes under the crust.
  • Convection currents are created to the rapidly rising and falling density of magma which creates divergent boundaries. The mid-atlantic ridge is an example of a divergent boundary. The convection currents cause the crust to spread apart specifically the sea floor.
  • The epicenter is the point above ground where an earthquake starts. You can find the epicenter by using triangulation(drawing 3 circles and where they overlap is the epicenter). The graph used to detect earthquakes.P waves and S waves are the 2 different types of seismic waves p waves always arrive 1. The ricter scale is the scale used to determine the strengh of an earthquake.
  • The ring of fire is a ring of volcanoes in the atlantic ocean. Explosive volcanoes are volcanoes with many more gases inside of it.  Non-explosive volcanoes do not explode they only release flows of lava. A cinder volcano is moderately explosive and are the most active, shield volcanoes are non-explosive and the lava is very runny, composite volcanoes are the most common type of volcanoes and are explosive.
