  • The plague came from Asia on traders ships. The sickness was carried by fleas that were on rats.
  • The sickness first infected the kingdoms near the black sea in the year of 1346 more outbreaks came in later years and infected more of Europe.
  • The plague was caused by bacteria called yesinia pentis. It is found mainly on rodents, but mostly rats and in fleas.
  • Symptoms were fever, headache, chills, weakness, and swollen tender lymph nodes.
  • It was spread by rats and the fleas that were on the rats.
  • Christian burials were very hard to do with all of the bodies.
  • Economic: It was difficult to proceed to sell goods or produce because of the plague.
  • The social effect: Killed many people causing population to shift within Europe
  • Cultural: Made many Europeans believe god was angry with them because of the plague. Made many people lose hope.
  • In medieval Europe Peasants gained more and more power during the plague. Also the plague didn't just affect commoners it affected lords and kings to.
  • There were nursery rhymes related to the black death Ring around the Rosie is one of these rhymes
  • Another one of these nursery rhymes was Goosey Goosey Gander
  • The goose bumps in this song referred to the boils you would get if you were infected.
