Congress Passed a law - called for the government to negotiate treaties that would require Natives to move west. Some Natives signed the treaty whereas some decide to fight back.
State of Georgia wanted to kick the Natives out of their land because they found gold. Natives argue that they have a right to the land. The ruling was that Georgia had no right to interfere with the Natives.
Natives were forced to move at gunpoint. 1/4 Cherokee died on the trial. Over 70,000 Indians were forced to give up their land.
