  • After World War II ended, The Soviet Union and the United States were no longer bound together by any alliances or treaties.
  • CAUSES OF THE COLD WAR Ashley Fernandez
  • They had completely different opinions on politics, causing them to repel like magnets!
  • The Soviet Union however did not like this; they had created a sort of barrier of resistance with the surrounding countries called the Iron Curtain.
  • The United States offered economic aid through the Marshall Plan in hopes of averting the spread of communism through Europe.
  • THE COLD WAR WAS NOT AN ACTUAL WAR!
  • The Cold War was fifty years of competitive technological and economical advancement raced by The Soviet Union and the United States. They wanted to prove which country was better than the other!
  • THE COLD WAR WAS NOT AN ACTUAL WAR!
  • The United States tried to spread their capitalist ideas and government to other countries to prevent communism. Meanwhile, the Soviet Union tried to spread their communist ideas and expand the radius of communist influence.

  • The Cold War was a war of ideas and impending fear. The Soviets were frightened by the United States' atomic bomb and military readiness, and the U.S. was frightened of the spread of Communist ideas and pending attacks.
