  • The Myth of Pyramus and Thisbe by Clara Skeppstrom
  • I love you!
  • Pyramus and Thisbe were neighbors. Their homes held an adjacent wall with a crack in it. This is where Pyramus and Thisbe met, and eventually fell in love.
  • Pyramus, I love you so much! I wish I could be with you, but our parents do not like each other!
  • From the other side of the wall, Pyramus could communicate back to Thisbe. Together they decided to meet the next day.
  • Let us meet under the mulberry tree by tomb of Ninus.
  • The next day, Thisbe went to their meeting spot. Awaiting her was a lioness, whose mouth was red with blood. Scared, she fled, leaving her veil behind.
  • Pyramus
  • Oh my! There is a lioness!
  • Thisbe
  • When Pyramus came to the mulberry tree, he noticed the lioness, with Thisbe's veil in her mouth. He was distraught because we believed that the lioness had killed Thisbe.
  • Oh no! Thisbe has been killed. I do not want to live in the world if she is gone. I will take my own life!
  • When Thisbe returned, she saw Pyramus's body. His blood ran into the mulberry tree, turning the berries purple. She decided that she was going to kill herself, just as he had.
  • Oh no! My Pyramus is dead! I would rather die than live without him. I hope we are buried together!
