as well as now worrying quite a bit more for Henry's safety, she also feels confined as an artist by her small apartment. Henry, using his condition, rigs a lottery, making the couple millionaires.
Henry finds Dr Kendrick, who will one day work with him to attempt to cure his disorder. he describes it to him, who as you would expect, doesn't believe, until of course he vanishes in front of him.
due to Henry's constant disappearances, Clare decides that she would like to have a child as a part of Henry that she can keep with her. after 6 miscarriages, they have a child named Alba, who Henry meets as a ten year old. she also a time traveler, confirming that it is genetic, though she has much greater control over it than Henry. she confirms that at age 43, Henry will die, information that Henry decides to keep from Clare.
so Clare finds Henry laying on the ground of their living room after one of his adventures with sever hypothermia. he's rushed to the hospital where it's discovered that his leg needs to be amputated. this is important for a couple of reasons, one being that running helped him calm and avoid time traveling. he's also not amble to run if he gets into trouble during one of his trips.
at a new years party, Henry starts to realize that he's going to die soon. he spends the rest of his time with Clare, than time travels back in time to box 4 on the last slide, where he accidentally gets shot by Clare's brother during his hunting trip. he than time travels back and dies in Clare's arms.
Henry leaves Clare a note stating that she should just live her life and that he remembers that at one point he meets up with her again in the far future, so she waits for him until she's 82 when they meet for the last time.
