  • it was that my organization strive for a balanced history for african americans back in 1915

  • I wanted to encourage them celebrate the accomplishment and contribution of their ancestors 
  • Who quickly took up Negro History week, and by 1960s, what was happening? Also what happened 1976? 
  • Good question....African Americans took up Negro History Week. By 1960s at the height of the civil rights movement  American educator, both white and back, were observing Negro History Week. Finally in 1976, the ASALH expanded the traditional long celebration of African-American history month, and Black History was born. 
  • In the same year which president urged Americans to observe Black History month ? Which president officially recognized the month in what year?
