  • Act 3 Scene 1
  • The Prince expressly hath forbid this bandying Verona streets. Hold, Tybalt! Good Mercutio!
  • Will you speak well of him that killed your cousin?
  • Act 3 Scene 2
  • Shall I speak ill of him that is my husband? Ah, poor my lord, what tongue shall smooth thy name.
  • Act 3 Scene 3
  • O deadly sin, O rude unthankfulness! Thy fault our law calls death, but kind prince, taking thy part hath rushed aside the law and turned that black word "death" to "banishment."
  • Tybalt has met up with Romeo, Benvolio, and Mercutio to fight. Since Romeo is married to Juliet, he doesn't want to fight Tybalt. Unfortunately, Tybalt stabs Mercutio, and Romeo gets angry and stabs Tybalt. After Romeo runs away, the Prince comes and decides to have Romeo exiled.
  • Act 3 Scene 4
  • O' Thursday let it be.-O' Thursday, tell her, she shall be married to this noble earl.
  • The nurse goes to Juliet's room to tell Juliet that Romeo has stabbed Tybalt. The nurse is very upset and doesn't make what she is saying clear, so Juliet is confused about if Romeo or Tybalt died. When she finds out that Tybalt has died, she is upset at first, but then she realizes that Tybalt would have killed Romeo. After arguing with the nurse about not being mad at Romeo, Juliet gets very upset about Romeo having to leave Verona, and the nurse decides to get Romeo to comfort her.
  • Act 3 Scene 5
  • Not proud you have, but thankful that you have. Proud can I never be of what I hate, but thankful even for hate that is meant love.
  • Romeo hides in the church with Friar Lawrence, who tells him that he should be thankful that he is only exiled and not killed. Later, the nurse comes to tell Romeo about the situation with Juliet. Romeo is still very ungrateful about not being killed, so Friar Lawrence and the nurse try to explain to him that he's making a big deal. After a few minutes, Romeo decides to visit Juliet.
  • Lord Capulet find out that Juliet is very upset, so he decides to let Paris marry Juliet without Juliet's approval. He decides to have them marry on Thursday.
  • Romeo and Juliet talk about what they are going to do about Romeo being exiled, but Romeo has to leave when the nurse tells him that Lady Capulet is coming. After Romeo leaves, Juliet goes to talk to Lord Capulet. Lord Capulet tells her about the plan to have her marry Paris, and Juliet says that she is not thankful. After Lord Capulet rages, Juliet goes to her room with the nurse, and the nurse tells her that she should marry Paris.
