Thomas Jefferson bought the Louisiana Territory for $15 million dollars. He sent out Lewis to go and explore that land, Lewis decided to take Clark along with him.
In May of 1804 Lewis, Clark, and many men went on on their exploration to find a water route to the Pacific.
Lewis and Clark met Sacagawea, who was pregnant, and she helped them on their traveling throughout the expedition. She was a big help.
Lewis and a few men parted from the group to try and find the Shonie tribe, but along the way he found the source of the Missouri River.
