  • Slavery needs to be illegal! 
  • we need to raise money for this movement.
  • We are silenced and controlled by men.
  • We are treated just like slaves!
  • Welcome to the World Anti-Slavery Convention!
  • Women Abolitionist were trying to convince lawmakers to make slavery illegal, even though they were not allowed to vote or hold office. Some women and their husbands raised money for the movement.
  • I'm Elizabeth Cady Stanton. 
  • Hi, i'm Lucretia Mott. 
  • Some women realized that slaves and women are a lot alike. They did not have many rights and were treated differently. 
  • I will be giving your speech, because you are not allowed to speak in public. 
  • in 1840, Lucretia Mott, and Elizabeth Cady Stanton attended the World Anti-Slavery convention in London.  When they arrived they learned that they were not allowed to speak at the meeting and they had to sit on a balcony behind ta curtain. 
  • We need rights!
  • We should be equal!!!
  • While at the World Anti-Slavery convention in London the women had to sit in a balcony during the speeches. Mott and Stanton met each other while sitting in the balcony. 
  • Lucy Stone graduated from Oberlin College in 1847. The college invited her to write a speech, but she was not allowed to speak in public, so a man would have to give the speech for her. She refused to let this happened, so after graduation she spoke out about womens rights. 
  • The Seneca Falls convention helped to create an organized campaign for womens rights. New York gave women control over their property and wages. Massachussets snd indiana passed more liberal divorce laws, blackwell started her own hospital, which included training for other women.
