  • "They burned my eyes."
  • Not long after she first arrived, she met Rudy Steiner, they met while playing soccer.Quote: "Insane or not, Rudy was always destined to be Liesel's best friend. A snowball to the face is surely the perfect beginning to a lasting friendship." (Pg 48) 
  • “The Road Back”
  • There are many problems that Liesel is going through just by living in Nazi Germany. One of the main problems is probably the possibilities of air raids. And the fact that Max, a jewish man they are hiding might die. Quote: " A hand was shoved gently at Liesel's shoulder as she slept. "Liesel, wake up. We have to go."" (Pg 371) 
  • “Atonement”
  • After the air raid, they lived and there isn't much damage done to their homes. Max lives. Quote; "Max lifted his head, with great sorrow and great astonishment. "There were stars," he said. "They burned my eyes." (Pg 378) 
  • “The return”
  • There is another air raid, this time it was lethal. It happens during the night and the signals were too late. Liesel loses her parents, everyone dies. Quote:"Only one person surivved. She survived because she was sitting in a basement reading through her the story of her own life, checking for mistakes." (Pg498)
  • After the raid, she was taken to the police, Ilsa Hermann and her husband the mayor decieded to take her in. Quote: "When Himmel Street was cleared, Liesel Meminger had nowhere to go." (Pg 545) 
  • Ilsa and the mayor. 
  • She lives with the Mayor and life continues.  Quote: " How many times did she have to say goodbye?." (Pg 546) 
  • Liesel in the future.
