Laurel Logan got abducted when she was six years old. She and her sister were playing outside on Stanley street when the incident happened. Thirteen years pass without a sign of her coming home then all of a sudden they think they've found her. Their family has their daughter back and everything is going well until Faith finds out that's really not her sister and that Laurels dead.
Years and years pass without Laurel and her family almost becomes sort of hopeless. One day their mother gets a phone call stating that a girl claims to be Laurel and was dropped off in front of the house that they use to live in on Stanley street.
Faith finds out that the girl who claimed to be Laurel really isn't her. She confesses to faith and tells her the that she also was abducted by the man that took Laurel and that's how she knew about her and her family. She came to live with them and pretend to be Laurel because she was finally on her own and didn't know what to do. She also told Faith that Laurel is dead.
The girl pretending to be Laurel kisses Thomas, Faith's boyfriend. Faith walks in on it and is instantly hurt that the girl she believes is her sister kissed her boyfriend. Fake Laurel ends up telling Faith she did that so she would hate her so that it would be easier for her to run away.
Fake Laurel tells faith that her real name is Sadie and that she's not her actual sister. Sadie takes Faith to the house where they lived while they were kidnapped. She shows her and tells her that her sister and the abductor are dead and where they are buried. Sadie says that Laurel died from sickness suddenly and that Smith died when she hit him on the head trying to escape.
Sadie knows she can't pretend to be Laurel anymore because the DNA tests will come back negative. She decides to run off to live a new life in a different state. She's cut her hair to try to change her identity so when she's out and public people don't think she's Laurel.Fath helps her write a letter to their parents saying she's going off on her own and that she'll be back hopefully and to not look for her.
