Leaders of the revolution want to put the ideals of the Declaration of Independence in their government and lose interest in a monarchy. They are determined to punish anyone who speaks out against the Revolution.
Napoleon gains power
Robespierre, a leader of the Revolution, accuses many people of being traitors to the Revolution, leading to their death. His accusations become so crazy that he even accuses other leaders of the Revolution, like Georges Jacques Danton.
Finally, after threatening judges and committing many other crimes, Robespierre is executed. Following his death, the people want a government without violence.
With the support of the army, Napoleon declares himself the Emperor of France and takes control of the government.
