  • The Tibet-Qinghai Plateau covers most of the southwestern part of outer china. This area is often called the Roof of the world because its average elevation is over 13,500 ft above sea level. The Tibet-Qinghai Plateaus is rocky and has many mountains around it. two of China's main rivers start in this area, they are called the Huang He river and the Chang Jiang.
  • The Taklamakan Desert covers 105,000 square miles and is one of the most dangerous deserts in the world. The word Taklamakan means "once you go in, you will not come out. A legend says that the lightning fast winds buried two armies and 300 cities under more than 600 feet of sand. the desert doesn't have many vegetation and trees and other plants can only grow at rivers.
  • The Gobi Desert covers more than 500,000 square miles. The Gobi Desert is one of the worlds largest. This desert has very little vegetation and is mostly made up of rocks and only partly sand, it does not have many sand dunes.
  • The Northeastern Plain is located east of Mongolia. The vegetation is mostly Prairie grass which is perfect food for sheep and horses. There are two major rivers in the Northeaster plain are called The Liao river and the Sungari River. The Liao river is very shallow and is only deep enough for small boats. The Sungari River is deeper and can carry large boats, the river freezes in the winter and the river turns into a road.

  • The North China Plain is one of the two major regions in Inner China. This area is called the "Land of the yellow Earth" this area is called this because thee ground is covered in limestone silt. There a very polluted river in this area called The Yellow river or Huang He. The Yellow river is yellow because the waters pick up the limestone sediment and makes the soil perfect to grow crops.

  • The Chang Jiang Basins are used to transport goods. The river means "long river' being longer than the Yellow river. The river starts in high mountains, then it goes thought three plains and stops in a delta. The soil is very rich and is perfect for farming. The river barley floods making much than man other rivers. In ancient times the area was perfect for growing rice
