Hi! I'm Debby, and I'll be your tour guide of the Statue of Liberty! We're not actually going to the statue, but I'm going to teach you about it! Ok? Ok!
Come walk with me.
Who's Miss Liberty?
So, as you already know, you guys are the bronze package. This means, you don't go to the statue. Do you see that little speck? That's Miss Liberty!
I want cake.
Let's have lunch at the Liberty State Cafe!
Well little boy, Miss Liberty is the representation of freedom and democracy in America! Immigrants that came through Ellis Island saw the statues and realized that they're in America, the land of the free!
So, here's a history on the Statue of Liberty. A French sculptor named Frederic-Auguste Bartholdi created her with sheets of copper, and Alexandre-Gustave Eiffel made the steel framework in 1875, and it was made to keep the friendship between the two nations.
Ohhhh that Miss Liberty! I know her!
The last few things I'm going to tell you guys is, America made the pedestal and of course France made the actual statue. And finally, in 1986, the statue went through extensive renovations for her anniversary.
Bye guys! Have a safe trip home! And little boy, I'll remember you and how you didn't know who Miss Liberty!!
