  • The Great Depression was a worldwide depression that was caused mainly by people unemployed, because of the stock market crash.
  • WWI (1914-1918)
  • The Cold War was a long rivalry between the Americans and the Russians and their allies that developed after World War II. lt lasted from 1945- 1991.
  • The Civil War in the US began in 1861, after years of anger between northern and southern states over slavery, states' rights and westside expansion. The War Between the States, as the Civil War was also known, ended in 1865.
  • World War I, also known as the Great War, began in 1914 after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria. By the time the war was over and the Allied Powers claimed victory, more than 16 million people—soldiers and civilians alike—were dead.
