  • The Atomic Theory By: Donna
  • John Dalton's theory was that all matter is made of small particles called atoms.
  • 1803
  • J.J Thompson discovered the first model of atoms and the model became known as the "plum pudding" model.
  • Ernest Rutherford disproved J.J Thompson theory. Rutherford tested Thompson theory by shooting particles at a piece of gold foil. Rutherford discovered the particles in the center of the atom, the nucleus.
  • 1897

  • Niels Bohr understood the structure of the atoms and that the electrons revolve in stable orbits around the atomic nucleus.
  • 1913
  • Scientist still argue that the Bohr model was incorrect. While Bohr discovered the levels, he did not research how the levels can change.
