mick Johnson is the son of a once football superstar. at a very young age micks father decides to train him to be the best running back. he plays pop Warner football and goes to every football cam he can

when mik cakes the high school carsity team he hardly ever plays, but rhen when their star quarter back and running vack are caught drinking mick finally gers a chance. but in the spotlight mick falls one yard short and keeps ging over that moment in his head he decides to be a better palyer he needs to ger stronger.

after drew took his needle out of his gym bag mick knew he had been found out. so when drew told him to meet him at the pond mick took his gun to tend the conflict, but wen he gets there he finally realizes that he doesn't want to kill drew and that he actually wants to kill himself and points the gun at his head and pulls the trigger
woah, mick is that a gun? is that really your plane? shoot me and hide my body in a lake
mick wakes up in the hospital and figures out that he failed to kill himself he is okay except for some damage to his scalp. his parents and his doctors say that drew drove him to the hospital and that he is a hero and the mick should be grateful for him
after he is discharged from the hospital he goes to a rehab center were he is to recover and while he is there he stll thinks about steroids and how he loved the power, but then he starts to control his urge fo rthe power and is also thold taht next year he can play football. even so he still acts depressed, in the book he talks abouy sitting in his room at night listening to the screams of his fellow attedants and talks about even though hes not screaming on the outside he is on the inside
