Archimedes was a famous Ancient Greek mathematician, physicist, engineer, inventor and astronomer. He was born and died in Syracuse, Italy.
And why is he so famous?
He discovered and invented many things, but he is most noted for the discovery of the relationship between the surface and volume of a sphere and it’s circumscribing cylinder.
He was most important for his calculation of the surface and volume of a sphere and it's circumscribing cylinder, his use of the eudoxean method of exhaustion in the measurement of curved surfaces, and his application of geometry to his mechanics.
WOW, that certainly is a lot to be proud of. But you haven’t mentioned the time when he was asked to calculate if the kings crown was made of pure gold. How did he do it?
