  • The Black Death started in Central Asia.
  • The Bubonic plague traveled on merchants ships through the Mediterranean Sea and on the Silk Road into Europe.
  • It was carried by rodents. The fleas would bite the rats and the fleas would carry the disease from the rats to the humans.
  • The fleas would bite the humans. The people would start coughing, then they would get black swells on their body, and would die a few days later.
  • 30-50% of the European population died.
  • Soon the black rat came and it was immune to the flea disease. After this the Black Death would come in every decade for 70 years.
