The Tale of Rockingham Point and The Scammers
Sir William is in trouble. His accounts have been mostly drained. Could it be of that unusual message from last night.
Another stormy night at Rockingham Point.
The owner Sir William of Canterbury had been working on his computer.
Dear Sir William, I am your cousin Reginald and I have had a brush with the law in Russia. The Russian police will release me if my bail of 20000 Dollars is paid. Please wire me the money at Clearlyascam@gmail.com. Regards Reginald
Sir William had very limited computer skills and had difficulty online and could not tell fact from fiction
Sir William sent the money to the unusual cousin and went to sleep..
But That's preposturous! I only sent my cousin twenty thousand. Now your saying I lost One Hundred Thousand!
The next day Sir William got a phone call from his bank. Saying that his account has been drained.
I suppose the moral of this tale is never to trust emails without confirming it with your family.
The Bank had then called the Federal Trade Commission. Thankfully for Sir William he had half a million dollars in gold bars in a safe behind the bookshelf.
