Tom Sawyer (The main character): a mischevious, immature, cunning, but sensitive, and goodhearted boy. This protagonist made matured decisions later on as the story progress. He often gets him and his friend into or out of trouble. This goodhearted boy is important because he is often exposed to big problems that may change the plot of the novel depending on what he chooses to do in order to solve it.
Huckleberry Finn: a juvenile outcast that is respected by Tom and the local boys. Huckleberry is in many of Tom's adventure and he is envied by Tom due to his freedom and the ability to do anything he pleased. He is disliked by most mother due to his carefree lifestyle. The boy is hated by many mothers because they fear he might influence their children. This is an important character because this is one of Tom's companion for most of the story. This character heavily influent Tom's decision throughout the novel.
Becky Thatcher: a beautiful blonde hair girl, Tom's crush, and daughter of Judge Thatcher (a famous celebrity). Becky is very wealthy and is adored by Tom. She is naive at first but soon became a romance strategist to match Tom's romantic strategies. This character played a very important role in this novel because she occasionally causes Tom to make him feel bad. Besides from making Tom feel bad, she also relied on Tom to make big decisions that can benefit her.
Aunt Polly: Tom's aunt, a kindhearted woman with a strict expectation. She tried to balance her love for Tom and strictly discipline him at the same time. Aunt Polly is quite old and but she looks like the kind of people that would give a second chance. Aunt Polly is an important character in the novel because She is Tom's aunt, she loves Tom, and she took care of him. Aunt Polly unknowingly makes Tom feels good when Tom secretly revisit his town after he has run away. Aunt Polly loving Tom alone can make her an important character because she gives Tom the love he needed.
INJUNE JOE: a heartless murderer, a liar, and a robber. Injun Joe is an Indian, due to his race, he got excluded and mistreated. According to the text, he blames Muff Potter for the crime Injun Joe committed himself.This character is important to the novel because he is the main villain in the story. He poses a great threat to Tom his friend while he was alive. He also got a hold of the treasure that Tom and Huck have been seeking for. With his death and the treasure remaining in the cave, Tom and Huck found the treasure and ended the story with a satisfying ending.
The novel took place in St. Petersburg. The conflict is between Tom with his mischievous mind and the adult's expectation. Tom and his companion also struggle against Injun Joe who they thought are out to kill them. The character that is shown in this novel is The Mischievous Tom Sawyer, warmhearted aunt Polly, Huckleberry Finn the outcast, Blonde and beautiful Becky Thatcher, Kind Joe Harper, Sid the snitch, Mary the sweet cousin, violent Injun Joe, Innocent Muff Potter, shameful Dr. Robinson, jealous Amy Lawrence, the wealthy Judge Thatcher, and the kindhearted Widow Douglas.
