I started my first busking 3 years ago. The idea of busking was suggested by my friend, Terry, who is an outgoing and energetic boy. At first, I was really afraid. I was afraid of my performance; I was afraid of seeing my friends in school or in church; and I was afraid of strangers talking to me. However, I still go with him because I don’t know how to regret him. Therefore, I just bring my guitar and go nervously.
After arriving Tsuen Wan, there were lots of people staring at us. We put our equipment right and started the performance. At the beginning, as I was so afraid, I play the guitar badly. It is really embarrassing for me to do such thing. Although I am good at playing guitar, I just think that I can’t play it in front of people. Therefore, I just play the guitar noisily without a good pattern.
However, when I saw Terry kept singing well. I started to try my best to give a good support. When the song is over, people clapped their hands and said it was amazing. Some even put money into the box and said supportive words. It is very warm and heart catching. After that, I start being less nervous playing the guitar and sing with Terry. More and more audience came and took video of us. I think it is quite a big breakthrough for me. At the same time, Terry also invited me to sing a song. Although I didn’t sing a lot or learn how to sing, I just try and sing a song. It was not good. However, people still clap their hands. Terry also taught me how to sing appropriately.
After this experiences, I appreciate myself as I become brave to sing in front of people and I also become more willing to try more new things that I may not familiar with. It lets me learn it is always beneficial if we walk out our comfort zone and try more new things.
