  • Just take it he probably won't have enough money anyway
  • Pay back the debt you owe our country or else we are going to seize everything you have!!
  • We don't want tea from England!!!
  • The British has lent American merchants and consumers money. However, as certain period of time pass, the British began to demand immediate payment on debts. If they couldn't pay back, they would seize whatever value that could replace the debt.  This impacted the George Robert Twelve Hewes since he worked as a shoemaker in someone else's shop. 
  • People who couldn't pay their debt back ended up in the streets of New York City regardless of their gender and age. Poverty was increasing or more people had to live a life with very little amount of money. George Robert Twelve Hewes earned meager wages and had no chance to vote since he had never had enough money. 
  • The British government's selfishness kept increasing which came to the point where they enforced taxes on tea. The American people were enraged resulting them to protest. Like this, mobs were essential and their protest activities were part of their everyday life. Majority of the mobs were people who could not vote and George Robert Hewes was one of them.
