Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms
We need to pass a bill that clarifies our rights and freedoms as Canadian citizens.
"I'd like to see one, but sometimes a Bill of Rights may be restrictive and interpreted narrowly." R.B BATTEN ( lawyer, Aylmer St. )
"I am not entirely convinced there is a need for such bill. I think there is a danger in trying to set out by legislation what are freedoms are." GORDON FARQUHARSON ( lawyer, Water St. )
A Bill of Rights is important for the democracy of Canada. It also would allow the government to be aware of issues throughout the country!
"I think that there is a need for a Canadian bill of rights. Britain has one and the United States also has one." JACOB LOW ( lawyer, Brock St. )
Under the law, everyone could be seen as equals. Race, religion, nationality, sex, age, mental/physical disability wouldn't be a factor of discrimination.
A bill of rights will help Canada to adapt to modern issues that are ever-changing.
