Salt was very important in the empire Ghana. In the empire salt had a very unique name. In the empire salt was known as the White Gold.
Gold and salt
Sunni Ali was known as the conquering hero. Sunni Ali was a muslim man who took over the empire of Songhai as the ruler. Sunni Ali rule began in 1464 and lasted over 30 years.
After Sunni Ali death in 1492 a new ruler came and replaced him. Askia Muhammad was the son of Sunni Ali. Askia Muhammad took over in 1492 after the death of his father.
A lot of different trades occurred in the empire of Ghana. Two of the most items Ghana had to offer was gold and salt. Salt and gold was the main two trades. Ghana is known as the land of gold.
Mansa Musa is known to be the richest man on earth. He became the Mali emperor in 1307. He died on 1337 with an estimate of 4 billion dollars of money. He was also the first African ruler to be widely known throughout Europe and the middle East.
In all three empires the main religion was Islam. Islam is the practice of only worshiping one god and following the prophet of god Muhammad. Majority of the people in Mali,Songhai, and Ghana practiced Islam
