Bruno doesnt understand why his family moved and he is very curious.
Bruno is short and has tiny scratches from a recent fall.
As long as its just for the foreseeable future and not for a month. I hate it here.
Gretel is 12 and is taller than Bruno.
Gretel is immature for her age and is referred to as the Hopeless Case
When you're my age you'll understand these things better
Pavel is old and slender. His voice is soothing and reassuring.
He is usually calm. He is a risk-taker.
Dont make it worse by thinking its more painful than it actually is.
Bruno is nine years old and he is the main character. He learns stuff along the way just as the reader does. He is a significant character because he starts to learn and realize beliefs and matters threw out the book.
Good morning, little man
Gretel is 13 years old and is rather immature for her age. She is Bruno's sister. She is important but important enough to be the main character alongside Bruno. She has a crush on Kotler which Bruno does not approve of. She rather annoys Bruno and calls him a Hopeless Case.
Shmuel is unusually skinny compared to Bruno and he has a unhealthy skin tone
Pavel was one of Bruno's closest friends before he got killed by Kotler. He was Jewish and was treated very poorly. He was rather old and his death had a huge influence on Bruno in the book. Because of this he learns that he has to watch what he does and says.
Don't ever say that!
Kotler has a huge influence on Bruno. He is not the main character but he does have an important role in the book. He is about 18-19 years old and liked to flirt with Gretel. He is mean to Pavel and ends up killing him at a dinner table. HE then gets transferred some where else.
Kotler is awfully mean and nasty to Pavel and other Jews
Kotler has unnaturally blonde hair.
Shmuel is one of the main characters in the book. He is Bruno's new best friend since Pavel's death. Shmuel is a Jew and is on the other side of the fence. He is almost always gloomy. He then looses Papa, which is his father, and asks Bruno for help.
Shmuel is almost always gloomy and is almost always hungry.
Thats a question you never have to ask me
Maria is not one of the main character's but she does have an influence on Bruno. Maria is a maid at Bruno's house and is nervous. She, as Father states, is overpaid. She is firm and loyal to Father since he helped Maria with funeral services for a close relative.
