Storyboard Text

  • On May 2nd 1860 Theodor Herzl was born in Budapest as an assimilated Jew.
  • Before 1895 Herzl thought assimilation was the answer to the Jewish problem.
  • After 1895, the Dreyfus Affair drove Herzl to realize that assimilation is not enough and Zionism is the answer.
  • The first thing Herzl does is write a book called "Der Judenstaat" and in 1897 he creates the World Zionist Congress which later becomes the World Zionist Organization.
  • In 1903 Herzl considers the Uganda Proposal because he is desperate and sees that the jews are in danger. This was offered to him by Jason Chamberlain.
  • Sadly on July 3rd 1904 Theodor Herzl died and did not see his efforts through.
