At the age of 15, I knew I wanted to be a scientist. I attended many schools, one being North London Collegiate School. The teachers said i was very good at science.

At the age of 15, I knew I wanted to be a scientist. I attended many schools, one being North London Collegiate School. The teachers said I was very good at science.
In 1938 I enrolled at Newnham College, Cambridge and studied chemistry. Three years later I was awarded Second class Honner which was excepted as a bachelor's degree.
I went on to work for a coal research association and worked on my thesis The physical chemistry of solid organic collides with special references to coal.
Later I helped discover DNA structures with my famous picture 51
