Storyboard Text

  • Conflict
  • This forest was given to my family in the time of my grandfather. But Georg Znaeym continually trespasses on it and poaches.
  • This land is rightfully mine and you know it Ulrich von Gradwitz.
  • Exposition
  • I know someone is in the forest.
  • Rising action
  • The main conflict of the story "The Interlopers" is the feud between Ulrich von Gradwitz and his neighbor Georg Znaeym. The feud is about a barely acquitted piece of forested land that was taken from the illegal possession of Goerg's grandfather and given to the von Gradwitz family.
  • Climax
  • Georg is hiding behind a tree in the von Gradwitz forest. Ulrich comes down a hill and senses that there is someone who doesn't belong, and because of the deer running about when it is night.
  • Falling action
  • I can't see distinctly They are making all the speed they can, brave lads. No Wolves.
  • The two men step around a tree and come face to face with each other. Without warning the huge beech tree that they had stepped around started to crack and fell onto them. Ulrich and Georg are trapped beneath the huge, wooden mass.
  • Resolution
  • How many are there? Then they are yours, I only had seven out with me. Are they your men? Are they your men? Who are they?
  • I'm caught on my own forest-land.
  • Ulrich and Georg start to talk to each other for the first time. They still hold deep hatred for one another so they discuss how when their men come first, the tree will be rolled over the other one to make it look like it was an accident.
  • So you're not killed, as you ought to be, but you're caught, anyway.
  • Ulrich starts to resolve the feud by offering some of his wine to Georg. Georg turns the offering down but the men go back and forth until they reach the agreement of helping to save each other when their men come. The two decide to both call out so their men will come to save them but the calls attract a different party. With this new agreement come the new urge of having your men come first because both men want to be the hero, instead of wanting your men to come first so that you can kill your neighbor.
  • HELP!
  • The calls of both men, intended to get the attention of their accomplices, gets the attention of a pack of wolves. The wolves have already started down the hill before Georg can tell that figures are wolves and not the men who are waiting in the forest.
