Storyboard Text

  • Madame Loisel was a rich woman, but lived in a house of poverty, and had no family status or standing. She was made fun of for her ways of life, as well as her choice of marriage.
  • If I am to go, I must look as if I even have anything.
  • Why don't you talk to Madame Forestier, then? She has plenty of jewelry.
  • Don't worry. You look more beautiful than any woman on this block!
  • In the story, Madame Loisel and her husband are invited to a ball, and Loisel persuades him to get her a dress. This shows her greedy behavior and bratty attitude.
  • However, her most discriminating feature is her stunningly beautiful necklace, which Madame Forestier let her borrow. This is the rising action.
  • The climax is when Madame realizes after the party that she lost the necklace, which mattered so dearly.
  • I lost the necklace!
  • To pay off for a fake necklace to deceive Madame Forestier, the Loisel's were put to labor. This is the falling action.
  • You're not going to miss a single inch of this room!
  • The resolution is when Madame Loisel is told by Madame Forestier that the necklace was only five-hundred francs, and labor was unneeded. This is also the plot twist and irony.
  • I lost the necklace, and the one we gave you is a fraud we paid for with labor.
  • You know that necklace was only around five hundred francs.
