Storyboard Text

  • I cant believe that officer just pulled me over in his police car!
  • Now I have a ticket! Ugh I never want this to happen to me again
  • Honey! Look! "Cops" is on TV!
  • Um uhhh Im going to have to pass for tonight. Goodnight sweetheart
  • Dan gets pulled over by a police officer. The unconditioned stimulus is speeding ticket given to him. Dan appears to be visibly upset about the incident, which would be his unconditioned response.
  • ok! sleep well!
  • wow there has been a lot of cars out today..especially police cars!
  • As Dan goes to sleep that night, he still feels anxious and angered that he got a speeding ticket. This shows how his unconditioned response has heightened.
  • Two Weeks Later...
  •  Lily wants to watch the TV show "cops" with Dan. The show "cops" is a  conditioned stimulus for Dan because of the police officers and police cars shown. He becomes anxious and declines to watch the show; this represents his conditioned response.
  • oh ya there has been a lot! Hmm I barely noticed!
  • His stress and anxiety continues as he thinks about the show. (continued conditioned response)
  • ya... *sigh*
  • Lily mentions cop cars in the area; this would be an conditioned stimulus, however it does not immediately follow the unconditioned stimulus of a speeding ticket.
  • Dan's conditioned response clearly decreased and caused extinction because he no longer has anxiety or stress at the sight of a cop car.
