Storyboard Text

  • A Shocking Accident Author:Graham Greene- a religious convert, son of a school master, wrote and explored topics of pain, fear, despair and alienation; worked as a copy editor then journalist
  • Holly Turner 4th period May 1, 2018
  • Jerome
  • Jerome is very imaginative. He is also thoughtful, caring, and one who broods not cries. His character traits help add depth to the plot because of his seriousness.
  • The story takes place in Britain in the early 1900's. Jerome is called into the office and told of his fathers death. The man who is breaking the news is trying not to laugh.
  • The dad died because a pig fell on him. Jerome is serious about it. Everyone finds the way the father died comical. He is afraid Sally will laugh.
  • Sally learns how Jerome's father died. She did not laugh and was serious. She even asked about the pig. Jerome is happy  and at ease.
  • There were two themes . One was how death can be trivial and the other was maturity or coming of age. I thought the story was interesting and how the father died was a little comical.
