There were no animals, trees or hills. It was all flat, and there were only people and a Rainbow Serpent called Goorialla. He went to look for his own tribe and travelled across Australia.
Goorialla reached Cape York and created a large red mountain called Naralullgan, which he left later. His body left a big gorge.
As Goorialla travelled further north he created rivers and mountains as he moved. One day, he heard singing and said that they were his people.
He taught the people how to dress properly, and how to dance. A storm started forming and the people built shelters.
Two boys, the Rainbow Lorikeet brothers came looking for shelter but no one had room, not even Goorialla. The rain was heavy so the brothers called out that they need shelter. Goorialla let them in, and he swallowed them.
Goorialla moved North to Bora-Bunaru, which was the greatest natural mountain on the land. The next morning the people saw the Rainbow Lorikeet brothers were missing and they knew Goorialla swallowed them. After the rain, you will see a rainbow, which is Goorialla's spirit in the sky.
