Storyboard Text

  • Athena in disguise as a man
  • "I announce myself as Mentes, son of Anchialos the wise, and my lordship is over the oar-loving Taphians"(Homer 4). I am a friend of your father, Odysseus, and just found out that the God's are impeding his passage home.
  • Who are you?
  • Telemachos
  • This is a sad song. It reminds me of my husband, Odysseus, not coming home. Please sing something else.
  • Penelope
  • "There is nothing wrong with his singing the sad return of the Danaans"(Homer 5). It's a popular song "so let your spirit be hardened to listen. Odysseus is not the only one who lost his homecoming day at Troy"(Homer 5).
  • Clapping
  • La la la la la la...
  • I can't believe how serious he is being
  • Penelope went back to the upper story with her attendant women, and wept for Odysseus, her beloved husband, until gray-eyed Athene cast sweet slumber over her eyelids"(Homer 5).
  • Go away suitors of my mother and "do your feasting elsewhere, eating up your own possession, taking turns, household by household. But if you decide it is more profitable and better to go on eating up one man's livelihood, without payment , then spoil my house"(Homer 6). I will just call out to the gods in hope that Zeus might grant a reversal of fortunes.
