  • Hi, I'm Adam. Nice to meet you. Today we will be learning about Egypt's priests.
  • I will be learning about Egypt with you. My name is James.
  • The temple priests shaved their hair in order to keep the temple clean. They did this in order not to insult the gods.
  • I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY SHAVED THEIR HAIR! Why would they do that?
  • They shaved their hair to keep the temple clean. If the temple was messy they would insult the gods.
  • Wow, that's interesting. Anyway, I have heard of the word purified. Does that have anything to do with priests?
  • Yes, I'm glad you asked. Purified means to be cleansed. It takes a lot of steps for a priest to be purified.
  • Priests had to avoid fish and other foods, he also had to bathe in holy pools 3 or 4 times a day. Those are the steps it takes to get purified.
  • Once a priest is purified, they can enter a sanctuary. Sanctuary means holy room. This is where the temple priests  were thought to live in a statue. Goodbye!
  • See you next time!
