Storyboard Text

  • This is the opposite of vertical gene transfer, which passes DNA from parent to offspring
  • I am learning so much!
  • ME!!
  • Yo, can I borrow some of that DNA?
  • In this process, genetic material is swapped between neighboring contemporary bacteria
  • Who?
  • Approved by our Adapted Horse-man
  • This is important because it forms antibiotic resistance
  • Antibiotic resistance occurs when bacteria changes to reduce the effectiveness of drugs, chemicals, or others to cure or prevent infections.
  • Without this, the bacteria would survive and continue to multiply, causing more harm.
  • Wow, I was not thinking this random theory was necessary..
  • Transduction    transfer of a DNA fragment from one bacterium to another by a bacteriophage
  • There are 3 ways for Horizontal gene Transfer to occur
  •
  • Conjugation    transfer of DNA from a living donor bacterium to a living recipient bacterium by cell-to-cell contact (sexual)
  •
  •
  • Transformation.  This intakes dead DNA from bacteria to create new DNA
  • Woah!  I am understanding this!
  • One Week Later..
  • Well, I don't know how you did it but, you got a 91
  • What did he just call me?
  • Awesome!  All thanks to that  evolved horse-man!
  • The End!
