Storyboard Text

  • Today, we visited family friends who also had immigrated to Latin America. They had their baby here, so she became a creole. Their baby won't have the same rights as us since she is of pure Spanish blood born in Latin America, but she will still be the second rank on the social ladder.
  • Awww! She is SO cute!
  • I feel so bad for the natives, as their land and rights were taken from them. I know that it is how our government decided to colonize them, and I must not say anything.
  • The Spanish gov. hereby declares all natives belong to the Spanish.
  • Mr. Hampton, our friend, had become promoted to own a farm to help send goods back to Spain. The Spanish government sent him many natives and Africans to work as slaves for him.
  • Our government also decided to bring Africans from Africa to also work labor in our new land since many natives had died from European diseases.
  • WHY. I miss Africa! :(
  • 😡
  • The slaves were treated terribly, with harsh conditions, long hours, and no pay. Those who did escape became free blacks, but those numbers were few.
  • How much longer?!
  • The only good benefit of this cultural blend was that many new ethnic groups were formed within the Americas. These groups included the Mestizos: Spanish and Indian heritage and Mulattos: Spanish and African heritage.
