  • PART 1
  • PART 2
  • This book is about the one of the biggest tragedies in American history.  This book is by Carol Matas.  The characters are, Daniel, Daniel's sister Erika, Daniel's mom, and Daniel's father.  Plus, Daniel's girlfriend.  The picture up above, resembles the family just before the Holocaust.
  • PART 3
  • Pictures of Frankfurt: This is the house just before the Holocaust.  This is also the beginning of the war between the Allies and the Nazi's.   This is where the family is introduced to the Germans being harsh on them.
  • PART 4
  • Pictures of Lodz:   This is Lodz, Poland.  This is where Daniel has been assigned to go to.  He and his family live in that big brown apartment.  His mother works at that bakery.  They are in even more of a struggle with the Nazi's limiting to what the Jews can do.  They are forced to go into hiding, but Daniel is caught.  He is sent to a concentration camp called Auschwitz.
  • Pictures of Auschwitz: This is the barrack that Daniel and his father have been assigned to.  They will stay here with a couple of other families.  Life is even tougher than before, they are now split from the rest of the family and have no clue if Erika or mother are alive.  The family has been shaved bald, so it is hard to tell who is who.  But, there is hope the allies are pushing!   Also, Daniel has met others, that are staying with him at Auschwitz, that is the concentration camp they are at.
  • Pictures of Buchenwald: Daniel is at another concentration camp, this time it is called Buchenwald, everyone from Auschwitz, have been moved over to here. The Allies are closer than ever before now, there is a gas chamber right next to Daniel's work place, and every night now... he takes a piece out of it, and builds it back in the morning. There is no way to lose now.  As long, as Daniel does not give up hope.  The Allies finally arrived!  They are saved!  It is all over.  Now, it is time for him to go back too Lodz, and see his girlfriend.
  • :Riley Hunt: Author: Carol Matas This book was astonishing, it opened my eyes to how the Jews where treated during World War 1, and the Holocaust.
