- Montag went to work and joined Captain Beatty and other Fireman in a poker game. Montag was scared out of his mind because he knew that he had books and Beatty knew about it.
- Montag and Captain Beatty arrive at the house they were supposed to burn down. Then Montag realised it was his house! His wife Mildred and her friends ended up reporting him for having the books in his possession.
- Captain Beatty demands that Montag lights his own house on fire. They get in a heated argument and Montag grabs his fire gun and points it at Beatty threatening him. He just keeps taunting him which drives Montag to pull the trigger, causing him to kill Captain Beatty.
- Montag is forced to go on the run. He is running from the authorities and mass population trying to find him along with a robotic dog that knows his sent and DNA.
- After jumping into the river to escape the robotic dog Montag washes ashore and meets a group of people on the outskirts of town. Montag and the leader of the group have a conversation and he explains that they are book memorisers and they are trying to salvage literature.
- The war starts and finishes in a matter of minutes. The city was bombed and leveled. Montag thought about all the people that he had lost then focuses on remembering the part of the bible that he had memorized. Although the city was in shambles he had hope for the future.
