  • The Unions Military Leader
  • The Union's Military Strategy
  • Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States. He was against slavery during the Civil War.
  • Disadvantage
  •  Ulysses S Grant was a very successful military leader for the Union.  Especially during the Civil War.
  • Advantage
  • The Military Strategy of The Union was to "choke and suffocate" the South. It was referred to as "the Anaconda Plan". By that, they meant that they were basically going to trap them in the US so they won't be able to trade with Europe.
  • Advantage
  • A disadvantage that the Union had is that they didn't have much land or farms. Farms would have been an advantage to them because it would have provided more food for them.
  • One of the most important advantages that the North had was they had a population of about 22 million people. That was an advantage because they had the opportunity to raise an army as well as them supporting the war efforts.
  • Another important advantage that the Union had was that 72% of the nation's railroads were in the North. This meant that, it was easier for the North to transport supplies to the people in war. So they were always stocked.
