  • Martin Luther was born in Eielsberg, Germany 1438
  • In 1505, Luther was caught in a storm and nearly struck by lightning. Muther took this as a sign from God and became a Monk.
  • Martin Luther is protesting against the Catholic Church!
  • In 1517, Luther nailed 95 theses to the Wittenburg Church about the wrong-doing of selling Indulgences to buy-off sins
  • In 1518, Luther was called to the 'Diet of Worms' (Diet meaning meeting and Worms is a place in Germany) Where Luther was asked to take back what he said about the church. Luther stayed by his belief and was excommunated from the church (banished) in 1521.
  • Luther's ideas spread across Germany and Europe which lead to the Catholic Church becoming weak.
  • Luther overthrew the Catholic Church and stopped the selling of Indulgences. Luther also made some changes such as focussing on charity, more toleration on alternate thinking and staying with Jesus's teachings.
