We make a living by making shoes, shipping, and trading to make a living.
To make a living all of us colonists do some farming, and trade.
In the South, people did lots of farming to make a living.
In the Northern Colonies, people made a living by making shoes, shipping, and trading. Kids didn't go to school and learned how to make a living at home.
Both colonies did some farming and either grew their food, o traded it.
