  • Oedipus Rex shows his hamartia when he stabbed his eyes to blind. In exodus "And he struck his eyes again and again with every blow blood spurted down his cheeks". This shows hamartia because Oedipus did that in anger, he killed his father so he punish himself. 
  • Anagnorisis
  • Oedipus Rex shows hubris when he coming up to be a new king. In prologue  "Lord Oedipus, these innocent children and I, the priest of Zeus, we come to pray at your altars". This shows hubris because only Oedipus can safe them, Oedipus is a good king.
  • Nemesis
  • Tell me the truth, old man!
  • Oedipus Rex shows peripeteia when he punish himself by live alone and poor on a mountain. In exodus "Drive me from here with all speed to where I may not here a human voice". This shows peripeteia because, Oedipus want to regret his mistake. He was a king in the beginning and now he blind and poor at the end. 
  • Catharsis
  • You are my mother, Jocasta
  • Oedipus shows his anagnorisis when he killed his real father, King Laius. In prologue "Whoever he was that killed the king may readily wish to kill me with his murderous hand". This shows anagnorisis because he kill his father but he doesn't realize that. Oedipus realize the truth when a herdsman tell that he was a baby on a mountain. 
  • Oedipus shows his nemesis when he talk with a blind prophet about his fate. In scene 1  "Your ruin comes not from Creon, but from yourself". This shows nemesis because even if the blind prophet tell him the truth, his life still being ruin.
  • Oedipus shows his catharsis when he asking about his real parent to Messenger and herdsman. In scene 4 "Let break what will, but find the secret of my birth. Was my mother a humble slave, or...". This shows catharsis because when Oedipus know Jocasta is his mother but he married his mother as his wife, then both of them punish them self. The audience feels bad because, although he know who is his real mother but he still have to sleep with his mother.
