Theme, Claim and Authors purpose Old Man and the Sea Hunter Hills
The theme for Old Man and the Sea is to never give up and always preserver. If Santiago gave up then he would never had brought the biggest fish into land. If you ever have to do something and you give up then you will never complete that task.
“‘He was eighteen feet from nose to tail,’ the fisherman who was measuring him called”(34). If he had just given up then he never would have brought the biggest fish caught in the village into land.
He wrote this book to entertain the people that love the sea like fishing and people that give up easily.
