How: What summer say helps the audience understand what she is trying to accomplish.
Why: When someone is offered a reward usually they will take the reward, but with summer the only thing she wants is an education and the satisfaction of her grandmother.
How- (Visual) : it shows the grandmas anger toward Summer's mother and father for leaving summer, she could also be thinking this was her fault because how she raised the parents
How: The statistic urges the audience to think about the situation that some of these kids go through
"Eighty-eight percent of Black Rocks students live below the poverty line."
Why: This shows a statistics about what is happening in Black Rocks.
Visual- when summer is offered a bribe she doesn't accept it, she says the only reward she wants is her grandmas satisfaction. 5:23- Audio- when the teacher is talking to the grandma you can tell they are struggling and that it's hard building a sense of trustworthiness that follows with hardship.
Visual- grandma is taking out her anger by shooting the gun, Summer is watching skeptically Audio- Summers talks how her mom and dad left her at a young age Text- "Summer Jordan missed her sophomore year of high school to care for her grandparents." (0:00 - 1:02)
Text- "Eighty-eight percent of Black Rocks students live below the poverty line. " Audio- The dinging when the quote was presented draws attention to the fact. Visual- showing many signs of poverty like the present girl right before the quote 2:29
