There is someone living in this cave and there is lots of food
Odysseus wants to stay and see who lives here
Who is in my cave?!
Odysseus and his men leave their ship in search of food.
The men are trapped in a cave with a man eating cyclops
I will not give you gifts, I will eat you!
They come across a cave that seems to be occupied by someone. There is a lot of food inside and in ancient greek culture it is customary to give gifts to stranger so Odysseus wants to stay.
Odysseus makes a plan to stab the eye of the cyclops and succeeds
The men all stayed and waited for who lived there to come back. When the owner comes back they are surprised to see that it is a giant cannibalistic cyclops. He the cave and moves a huge boulder in the doorway of the cave.
They all escape to their boat and leave the island
The men are trapped and the cyclops eats two of the 12 of them. They would kill him after he went to sleep but they aren't strong enough to move the boulder to get out of the cave so they have to create a plan.
The next morning the cyclops ate two more men and Odysseus comes up with an idea. After the Cyclops got back he would give him the wine they had to get him drunk and then stab him in his eye. Later that day the cyclops ate two more men and drank the wine.
The plan worked and the men escaped by hiding under the cyclops sheep when he let them out of the cave. They ran to their ship and left the island.
