The Missouri Compromise allowed Missouri to enter the Union as a slave state even though it was above the Mason/Dixon line.
The Underground Railroad was a way to free slaves. one of the most famous people on the underground railroad was Harritett Tubman.
Dred Scott Case
The Fugitive slave law allowed southern slave owners get their slaves back from northern states. this law converted many indifferent northerners to anti slavery.
The Election of Abraham Lincoln
The Kansas/Nebraska act allowed settlers to decide weather or not their new territory would allow slavery or not.
Dred Scott sued his owners because he spent four years in Louisiana, which became a free territory after the Missouri Compromise. The court decided that he couldn't sue because he was property.
Abraham Lincoln was elected into office and he was against slavery.
