  • The Missouri Compromise allowed Missouri to enter the Union as a slave state even though it was above the Mason/Dixon line.
  • Kansas/Nebraska Act
  • The Underground Railroad was a way to free slaves. one of the most famous people on the underground railroad was Harritett Tubman.
  • Dred Scott Case
  • The Fugitive slave law allowed southern slave owners get their slaves back from northern states. this law converted many indifferent northerners to anti slavery.
  • The Election of Abraham Lincoln
  • The Kansas/Nebraska act allowed settlers to decide weather or not their new territory would allow slavery or not.
  • Dred Scott sued his owners because he spent four years in Louisiana, which became a free territory after the Missouri Compromise. The court decided that he couldn't sue because he was property.
  • Abraham Lincoln was elected into office and he was against slavery.
