  • “I’m sorry ma’am but, your husband died in the war.”
  • “What how am I suppose to take care of my children.”
  • After the French and Indian war, Britain wanted to govern its 13 colonies they gained and didn't want their debt from the war to increase. The British Parliament made new laws and restrictions like taxes the colonist had to pay and acts they had to follow. Colonists weren't happy and this led to unpeaceful protest.

  • “we are siding with the British, you patriots.”
  • One of the most important events was the Battles of Saratoga. Since the Continental Army surrounded Burgoyne's are and started shooting making him surrender.

  • “Let’s work together to deafest the British”
  • The war had many costs like an estimate of 25,700 Americans died in the war and the nation was left with a debt of about $27 million and even Civilians were affected. Even the losers suffered like thousands of Loyalists lost their property.
  • Outcome/Effect of the War (continued)
  • “We want more religious freedom and for the people to rule!”
  • People started to choose sides like some Americans who were loyal to the British were called Loyalists. While the others that sided with the colonist were known as Patriots and the rest were neutral.
  • This victory had a turning point in the Revolution. It caused European nations to that the Americans might win their war of independence and decided to help America out which they would soon be allies to defeat the British.
  • The war also changed ideas in the government. Americans wanted rights as English citizens but after they won they replaced the goal w/ the idea of republicanism. Americans called for more religious freedom too.
